Battle of Brooklyn and Beyond: The Evergreens Military History Tour
November 10 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
A military history tour for Veterans Day (which falls on November 11). This year is the 100th anniversary of the signing of the armistice, which ended the World War I hostilities between the Allied nations and Germany in 1918.Come explore the Rockaway Footpath, retracing the British flank march that helped decide the outcome of the Battle of Brooklyn. We will also visit the graves of an eyewitness to those events and of a rabble-rousing Son of Liberty who participated in the evacuation of New York during that conflict.
Also go beyond the American Revolution to visit the graves of those who fought in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, WWI and WWII. Tour guide James Henry will share stories of African-American men who struggled to serve their country and fight for their freedom during the Civil War, as well as chilling tales of the years during both World Wars that German U-boats menaced the shores of New York.
Meet at the main gate at 1629 Bushwick Avenue.
$5 suggested donation, payable in cash at the event. Registration is appreciated but not required
