Julia Oldham: How to Escape a Black Hole

September 26 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)
Sunday hours are 12 - 6 p.m.

A stimulating and immersive video installation. This hallucinatory guided tour into a philosophically fraught region of space time is part physics lesson, part voyage toward destruction. Oldham herself plays an entity that has assumed the appearance of a giant floating human head, so viewers “feel more comfortable in [her] presence.” The head, naturally, leads the informational and sensational journey into an all-encompassing black hole. Viewers are slowly pulled through a universe inspired by YouTube self-hypnosis and ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) videos, engendering a soothing sense of escape—that also feels somehow inescapable.

Tue – Sat, 10am-6pm; Sun 12-6pm;  and closed Mondays
